ABOUT THE BCBS
Kai Frueh: Kai is a 15-year-old homeschooler who has been birding for four years. Being homeschooled, he has a lot of free time to pursue birds! He loves getting outside in nature and traveling in search of birds. Though Kai loves the thrill of finding new birds, he also likes seeing his local birds, and cares for 20 + swallow/bluebird boxes in some local fields. He loves writing about birds and has had multiple articles published in the Oregon Birds magazine. He received a scholarship to the Western Field Ornithologists conference in 2016, and really enjoyed it. Besides birding, Kai loves to play music, and he plays piano, viola and organ.
We are a group of young birders and nature enthusiasts from Corvallis, Oregon with a mission to raise money and awareness for the conservation of birds and their habitat. Every year since 2016, we have been putting on a "bird sit" to raise money for various charities.

WHAT THE HECK IS A BIRD SIT?
A bird sit is a challenge to see as many species as possible from within a 17-foot-diameter circle during a 24 hour period. Often the big sit team chooses to use it as a fundraiser (like we do), usually using the pledging system, where supporters pledge a certain amount of money for each bird seen.

WHO WE DONATE TO (click a logo to visit the website of that organization)

Isaac Denzer : Isaac started birding sometime before his 10th birthday, and has been (somewhat obsessively) pursuing the pastime ever since. He has birded extensively in his home state of Oregon, but also loves traveling for birds. He is currently one of several birders editing field notes for the Oregon Birds magazine, and in 2015 won a scholarship to a Western Field Ornithologists conference in Montana. He particularly enjoys birding on the coast, in deciduous woodland (especially during spring migration), and any other place he is likely to see lots of birds. Besides birding he enjoys wildlife photography, running, biking, hiking, sports, boating, and pretty much anything else that involves being outside.
Jacob Mathison: Jacob has been birding since September of 2015, when Kai introduced him to the pastime. Since then, he has seen over 750 bird species and birded in eleven countries. He also writes field notes for the Oregon Birds magazine, and has led bird tours for the John Scharff Migratory Bird Festival. Besides birding, Jacob enjoys playing ultimate frisbee, biking, Aikido (a martial art), hiking, playing piano, and anything else having to do with the outdoors.
